I like Flemish entrepreneurs. Gray country that we are, creativity and entrepreneurship are often deeply hidden. That we stand behind on our neighbouring countries in terms of uhm… everything, is well known. So a spontaneous smile captured my face when I found a letter from Rain Pharma in my mail pile. A 100% Belgian company; even the development and production is done in Belgium.

Plus a sensual fragrance, vitamin E and a lot of other vitamins and minerals. Yes, it is my new favourite everyday hair product.

10 ml lijkt dan misschien weinig, maar gezien de hoeveelheid olie die je dagelijks gebruikt, is dit een mooie voorraad. Zoals bij elk haarproduct: gebruik met mate. En ik beloof je: géén zware lokken, geen vettige slierten. Je merkt het verschil pas echt na enkele dagen gebruik: je haren voelen bizar zacht aan, froezeltjes zijn op wondere wijze (zo goed als) verdwenen en hallo reclame-achtige glans! Het flesje is trouwens erg vriendelijk voor je portefeuille, en mocht je overtuigd zijn, kan je altijd overstappen naar een groter exemplaar – kwestie van nooit zonder te komen zitten.

10ml seems little, but considering the amount of oil you should use every day, this is more than enough. As with any hair product: don’t use too much. And I promise you: say bye-bye to heavy and greasy hair. You really notice the difference after a few days of use: hello advertising-like hairdo! The bottle is also very budget proof, and if you are convinced of it, you can always switch to a larger one – don’t take the risk of ending up with an empty bottle!

In hindsight, I apparently got my inspiration from Justin Timberlake’s Strawberry Bubblegum (I am só in love with his new album!) – given the combination pink/red. The colors of my mood: “Ready, Aim, Paint!” (Rimmel) and “Pink Grapefruit” (2B Colours).

Beide lakjes hebben een speciale eigenschap: het rode kleurtje zou droog moeten zijn in 60 seconden, het roze zou een heerlijk zomerse geur nalaten. Check voor de 60 seconden droogtijd – althans het eerste laagje. Bij de volgende laag kan het iets langer duren. Feit is dat dit flesje op mijn bureau staat als ik-heb-geen-tijd-maar-wil-mijn-nagels-lakken-oplossing. Over de “smell me”-lakjes kunnen we kort zijn: niet de moeite. Bij het aanbrengen neem je een lichte zweem van zomers fruit waar, maar dit is na enkele luttele seconden alweer verdwenen. Met andere woorden: ga voor de prachtige budget kleur, niét voor het parfum.

Both polishes have a special feature: the red color should be dry in 60 seconds, the pink one should scent like delicious summer fruits. Check for the 60 seconds drying time – at least for the first layer. The next layer may take a little longer. The fact is that this bottle stands on my desk as I-have-no-time-but-want-my-nails-painted-solution. About the “smell me” polishes we can be brief: do not bother. When applying, you may be aware of a slight summer fruits perfume, but this disappears after a few seconds. In other words, go for the beautiful – and budget – color, not the perfume.

Hospitals. The last few months, I have spent wáy too much time there the past few weeks. After my grandfather, my boyfriend was also a few days off, because there is “something wrong with his heart.” Meanwhile, we are not making any progress, and the concern remains high. So hours left to wander in (largely) dreary corridors. Although they do their best to make it modern and uhm… “fun”, hospitals often are outdated and anything but cozy. A few small changes would make a world of difference.

Fleurige gordijnen zijn één van die aanpassingen die ik al meermaals heb gespot. Ook een kleurtje tegen de muur, of ingelijste tekeningen. Gelukkig is er ook steeds meer plaats voor personalisatie (zeker op palliatieve verzorging, een afdeling die mijn grootvader omschreef als de hemel op aarde), zoals eigen spulletjes op de kamer en eigen kunst tegen de muur.. Maar daarnaast is er nog véél ruimte voor verbetering.

Floral curtains are one of those changes I’ve spotted. Also paintings against the wall, or framed drawings. Fortunately, there is more and more room for personalization (especially on palliative care, a department that my grandfather described as heaven on earth), as personal belongings in the room and own art against the wall .. But there is still much room for improvement.

Ik had verwacht een dozijn hospitaals te vinden op het wereldwijde web waar men afstapt van het klassieke interieur, maar niets is minder waar. Het werd een niet zo simpele zoektocht – iets wat mij verbaasde. Toch vond ik enkele sfeerfoto’s van toffe kamers, ziekenhuizen in opbouw en moderne architectuur. Of zoals een ziekenhuis er volgens mij zou moeten uitzien anno 2013.

I expected to find a dozen hospitals on the World Wide Web where they step off the classic interior, but nothing is less true. It was a not so simple quest – something that surprised me. However, I found some pictures of cool rooms, hospitals in building mode and modern architecture. Or as a hospital -in my view- should look like in the year 2013.
